Yordenis Ugas suffers fractured orbital bone against Errol Spence Jr - the same serious eye injury A

Yordenis Ugas suffered a fractured orbital bone in his defeat against Errol Spence Jr on Saturday night.

This is not the first time Spence Jr has inflicted such an injury, as Kell Brook endured the same fate after being stopped in the 11th-round of his fight with the Texan resident back in 2017.

Spence Jr was on top for much of the fight, but Ugas enjoyed periods of success himself, most notably when he had Spence Jr rocked in the sixth round.

It was not to be, however, for the Cuban as he was withdrawn from the fight by the ringside doctor midway through the tenth round due to swelling around his right eye, which allowed Spence Jr to add the WBA title to his collection alongside the IBF and WBC belts.

The eye seemed to begin swelling following a punch in the seventh round and by the tenth it had swollen completely shut.

According to Ugas's team, he will not need emergency surgery and the injury will be re-evaluated once the swelling has gone down

"The referee stopped the fight, but I wanted to keep going to the end." Ugas said after the fight, "I definitely had a chance to win the fight in the sixth round, but he recuperated well."

Ugas will most likely be out for the foreseeable future, as we have seen similar injuries to the likes of Kell Brook and Errol Spence Jr keep them out of the ring for an extended period.

As for Spence Jr, he made it very clear in his post-fight interview who he wants next, saying:

"Everybody knows who I want next, I want Terence Crawford next," declared the 32-year-old American.

"That's the fight that I want, that's the fight everybody else wants. Terence, I'm coming for that motherf****** belt."

Crawford himself responded to the call out on Twitter, saying, "Errol Spence Jr congratulations great fight now the real fight happens. No more talk no more side of the street let's go!!!!"

@ErrolSpenceJr congratulations great fight now the real fight happens. No more talk no more side of the street let’s go!!!!😉🤝

A fight between Spence Jr and Crawford would be for the undisputed welterweight world championship, with 'Bud' bringing the WBO title to the table.

Until now, boxing politics and a lack of cooperation between promotional companies had stopped the fight from happening.

However, with Crawford now a free agent, it is a realistic possibility that we see this super-fight next.
